Little Decision, Extreme Change

Hey Everybody!
Day 1 of our 5-day sports and arts camp, Lil’ Extreme, was a huge success! We started with lunch. Then we had singing, dancing, and a skit. After that we split into eight groups and moved on to different activities like basketball, outdoor and indoor games, crafts, and karate. Then we came together and had more singing and dancing. There was a lesson taught by Dave Chinn, and then we had small group discussions. We ended the day with a song and a snack!
Well I want to say thank you so much to all the people who helped out, because we had a huge turnout! There was 112 5-12-year-olds at our camp! We now have exactly 125 signed up. It’s awesome how God worked that out, because the cut-off for our camp was 125! All of us leaders are very excited to have so many kids! But on the flip-side, we also know that having so many kids will be a bit of a challenge. It may be hard to keep track of all of them, and with so many kids there are bound to be a few trouble-makers. We’ve run into a few more rambunctious kids already, but hopefully (with God’s help!) we will be able to have the patience
to deal with them cheerfully.
Overall the kids have been great! I was up front helping with the singing, and it was just awesome listening to all the kids. Their singing was completely drowning out the music. Also, I know from my own experience in my small group, and also from talking to other leaders, that the kids seemed to be pretty attentive and responsive. We even had one kid, named Jason, say that he wanted prayer because he’s been debating in his mind whether or not he wants to accept Jesus as his personal savior! We’ll definitely be making it a high priority to follow up with him about this for the next four days. Hopefully we’ll be able to keep our energy up for the rest of the week and continue to be positive influences on these kids!
