May 29 Worship Service: Sovereign Surrender - Love, Anger, and the Story
Good and evil are real, and we must learn to judge between them. However, it’s easy, tribal, and perhaps even our default mode to think about “us” and “them.” To fixate on what they did to mess us and our world up.
The truth is, when we settle into a judgmental place toward them, we have truly only succeeded in one thing: damning ourselves.
It’s easy to criticize. It’s hard to redeem. Can we embody restraint and mercy? Or will the inner, self-righteous, petty tyrant devour us, one sad soul at a time?
Can we live the paradox of sovereign surrender?
